HANDS OF THE CARPENTER
Hands of the Carpenter serves women in need with automobile repair and maintenance to support the women’s desire for economic self-sufficiency. For each woman Hands of the Carpenter serves, the need for automobile repair is immediate. Without it, she can lose her job, without a job, she could lose her home and then suddenly a seemingly simple repair can lead to homelessness.
Pit Crew Volunteer
-
- What: Hands of The Carpenter (Hands) is dedicated to providing help and HOPE to single women in need striving to be economically self-sufficient. Unreliable vehicles threaten their ability to get to work, provide for their children, and causes overwhelming fear and frustration. To increase the number of women that can be served, teams (called “Pit Crews”) consisting of 4-5 skilled volunteers are being formed to use Hands’ repair shop in Golden. Each Pit Crew has a team lead and volunteers 3 or 4 hours per shift – during a consistent evening once a month or Saturday each month. Teams complete minor repairs and maintenance, generally working on previously diagnosed donated vehicles or those owned by women in need that Hands is serving. Most every tool needed is already on site, but volunteers are welcome to bring their favorites.

Donation Request
- Donating your car can change the lives of an entire family! Reliable transportation creates a world of possibilities for single mothers and their families, from maintaining employment to new career opportunities. By donating your car to the Hands of The Carpenter “Good Neighbor Garage” program, you provide hope through transportation, as we accept donations of cars and other vehicles as a way to provide for the reliable transportation needs of working single mothers in the Metro Denver Area.
